History

Maa Varahi Amman Temple in Periyapalayam is among the most sacred Shrines dedicated to the Divine Mother in Her fierce and protective Form as Maa Varahi. According to ancient traditions, the Temple has been a center of worship for centuries, where Devotees invoke Maa Varahi for Protection, Prosperity, and Victory over enemies.

Maa Varahi, one of the Sapta Matrikas (Seven Divine Mothers), is believed to have accompanied Lord Shiva in battles against demons. As the Boar-Form of the Divine Mother, She represents Strength, Courage, and Transformation. The Temple is considered a powerful spiritual seat where Maa Varahi listens to the prayers of Her devotees, especially on Amavasya (New Moon), Fridays, and during Navaratri.

Over the years, Periyapalayam has become a sacred pilgrimage site, with thousands of devotees visiting to seek the blessings of Maa Varahi Amman. Special rituals, including Homams, Yantra Pujas, and Alankara Sevas, are performed to honor the Goddess.

The Temple is located in Periyapalayam, a town in Tiruvallur district, about 45 kilometers north of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It lies on the banks of the Arani River, enhancing the sacred atmosphere of the Shrine.
